October is Disability Awareness Month
Join us for events promoting a community of acceptance and empowering students with disabilities to thrive at Dallas College. Visit the Disability Awareness Month webpage for information.
Dallas College’s Accessibility Services Office coordinates accommodations for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to programs and services.
The Accessibility Services support staff help students understand their approved accommodations, learn how to navigate the college environment, receive support services and connect to resources.
Accommodations are coordinated to fit individual needs and may include:
- Extended time on exams
- Quiet rooms to take exams
- Readers and/or scribes for exams
- Sign language interpreting
- Computer-aided real-time translation (CART) services
- Note-taking services
- Assistive technology
- Large-print materials
Students requesting services are responsible for providing
educational, psychological or medical documentation from a qualified professional verifying their disability and the need for accommodations.
New students are encouraged to contact Accessibility Services at least two weeks before classes begin. However, students may come in at any time to begin the process to receive services.
Returning students are required to request and renew their accommodations each semester. To renew, students may email
DSSO@DallasCollege.edu or email their case manager. Students may also call 972-669-6400 or click on the red box below to renew.
“The accessibility services have been a great support. Whenever I need help, there is always someone there to help me.”
