Biology/Ecology at Brookhaven

Taking biology classes at Brookhaven is an affordable way to get started on a path to a brighter future. Whether you’re taking classes to transfer to a four-year college or university, or for personal enrichment, our curriculum will give you the foundational skills you need.

The study of biology can open a student up to a wide realm of career fields. From scientific research, to health care, to environmental issues, the study of biology can provide a framework for understanding the natural world around us.  Biology can serve as a foundation for study of more specific subjects like genetics, zoology, ecology or agricultural sciences as well.

Biology can do more than just prepare students for a career in health care and the sciences, though. Biology courses train students to ask questions, gather and review evidence, make judgments and solve problems.

  • Students in our courses are pursuing degrees in science, health professions and allied health professions, but some are non-science majors who simply want lab science courses that are relevant to their lives.
  • Students take biology classes on campus, online or in a hybrid format.
  • Classes are offered in fall and spring semesters, in winter and May accelerated sessions, as well as during flex terms.
