Jackie Porter

Jackie Porter earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from Amber University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bishop College and an associate degree from El Centro. He has also completed post-graduate coursework at the University of North Texas toward a doctorate in education. He began working at Dallas College in 1984 and became a full-time faculty member at El Centro in 2008. Mr. Porter has also taught at Tarrant County College-South Campus, ATI, Eastfield and the Edmund J. Kahn Job Training Center of Dallas College's Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development.

Professional experience includes a total of 18 years working in accounting and bookkeeping, operations, marketing and management for Texas Instruments, ABC Temps Inc., the Dallas Morning News and Albertsons. He was a special programs instructor and teaching administrator at Dallas College's Edmund J. Kahn Job Training Center and served as a cooperative education coordinator, program director and academic advisor for the Business and Technology and Fine Arts divisions of Eastfield.

Awards and honors include Competent Toastmaster (CTM); Able Toastmaster (ATM) Bronze; Esprit de Corps — Bill J. Priest Institute; and employee of the year at El Centro​. He was also named a Sam Walton Fellow in the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization.

Mr. Porter is a member of Toastmasters International and has served as El Centro’s Toastmasters president, vice president for education and area governor. As a member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association, he served as campus representative for four years. Other affiliations include the International Customer Service Association (ICSA), Help Desk Institute (HDI), DFW Cisco User Group, the American Academy of Procedural Coders and the American Association of Medical Assistants.
