Admission Ranking

Admission Process

Admission to the Mountain View Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program is competitive. A process to identify the top applicants is outlined below. Those deemed eligible will be placed into an applicant pool for consideration based upon the following items.

1. Prerequisites: Grades of C or better in the following prerequisite and support courses:

  • ENGL 1301 — English Composition I*
  • PSYC 2301 — Intro to Psychology*
  • BIOL 2401 — Anatomy and Physiology 1 (BIOL 1401 is a prerequisite for BIOL 2401.)**
  • Fine Arts elective (no points awarded) must be selected from the A.A.S. Core Options for Humanities/Fine Arts.

Points earned for each completed course are given by the grade awarded:

  • A = 3 points
  • B = 2 points
  • C = 1 point

*All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to application.

**Anatomy and Physiology 1 (BIOL 2401) coursework must be completed within the past five years. If completed more than five years ago, coursework must be retaken prior to application to receive admission points for the course.

2. Applicants with the highest total points will be selected to interview and asked to complete a professional writing sample. Total points are calculated and then ranked numerically using the following formula: Points for prerequisites + interview + writing sample = total points.

Application Submission

Submission and signature on the application is verification that the applicant has read the Mountain View OTA program website content and understands the process for selection, including conditions for acceptance into the program.

Application Documents

Applicants are responsible for ensuring all required documents have been received and that the application file is complete. Incomplete or inaccurate documents, including physical exam, immunizations, etc., will not be considered for admission. Applicants are advised to retain a photocopy of all materials submitted as their application packet.

Admission Notification

Applications are processed and files managed through the Mountain View OTA Admissions Office. Admission decisions are made by the admissions c​ommittee. All admission decisions rendered are final and cannot be appealed. Applicants who are offered admission can expect to receive notification of their decision by email and mail. Applicants will have a deadline by which to accept or decline the offer of admission.
