This initiative is the result of multiple higher education institutions who have worked together in support of online faculty. The launch of this course would not have been possible without each of their participation.

NISOD Partnership

In the fall of 2017, Mountain View formed a dedicated workgroup to review best practices in online learning, identify elements of quality in online courses, create documentation to support faculty and develop a professional development plan. This was part of an effort to continuously improve the quality, scale and breadth of our online program and course offerings.

The eLearning Work Group reviewed best practices in the field of distance education, evaluated multiple programs to discover common themes, created a set of recommended indicators for online courses and generated a Faculty Checklist to support faculty teaching online.

NISOD logoMountain View and the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) partnered to design, develop, and promote a nationally-recognized professional development program that supports faculty across higher education institutions. The goals of this partnership and the launch of "Best Practices for Teaching Online" include increasing awareness of best practices, offering open access across higher education institutions, and providing external recognition of successful completion.

College Participants

Multiple higher education institutions across the United States interviewed online faculty and students to obtain valuable perspectives related to course design and delivery. Their involvement in this faculty professional development program is greatly appreciated.
