Following this pathway will help you earn an AS degree, which will increase your chances of transfer to bachelor’s-level programs at UNT. Although there may be several options to fulfill certain requirements for the associate’s degree, please note that this pathway lists the specific courses leading to this bachelor’s degree. All plans can be modified to fit the needs of part-time students. This is not an official degree plan. Refer to catalog for official degree requirements. You must receive a GPA of at least 2.00 on all college-level course work. Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. ENGL 2311, BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, BIOL 2421, PHYS 1401, PHYS 1402. UNT requires a grade of “C” or higher and an overall 2.5 grade point average in BIOL 2401, 2402 and 2421.

  • ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a (CB 010) Core course. Must earn a grade of “C” or higher.
  • EDUC 1300 – Learning Framework All college students with fewer than 12 semester credit hours of successful college credit (grade of “C” or above) must take a student success course in the first semester.
  • MATH 1342 – Elementary Statistical Methods This is a (CB 020) Core course. Must earn a grade of “C” or higher and an overall 2.5 grade point average is required by UNT.
  • CHEM 1411 – General Chemistry I This is a (CB 030) Core course. Prerequisite of MATH 1314, or equivalent academic preparation, prior to enrolling in the course. A grade of “C” or higher and an overall 2.5 grade point average is required by UNT.

Students following this plan must complete all Foundation course requirements before enrollment in 3000 and 4000 level courses required for the major. Successful completion is based on achieving a C or better in each course and an overall 2.5 grade point average in these courses. The Foundation courses in this plan are BIOL 1710, 1720, 1760, 2041, 2042; CHEM 1410, 1420, 1430, 1440, 2370, 3210; MATH 1680 (equivalent Dallas College course numbers: BIOL 1406, 1407, 2421; CHEM 1411, 1412, 2423; MATH 1342).

Some specific 2000-level Biology courses are listed as optional electives in the plan below; these are also listed in the “Consider Completing Before Transfer” section of the previous page. Students interested in the health professions who have completed the Field of Study in Biology should take these courses in the junior year (or earlier) in order to be a competitive applicant for medical school, dental school, etc.
