El Centro College, as a community, will join together on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, for its “#ElCentroStrong: Reflect and Renew Ceremony” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The event will provide faculty, staff, students, dignitaries and others with an opportunity to heal, reflect and look to the future of El Centro and the downtown Dallas community. The ceremony will be held in the El Centro Performance Hall, located at 801 Main St. in Dallas.

Where: El Centro College Performance Hall, 801 Main St., Dallas
Why: To heal, reflect and look to the future of El Centro College and the downtown Dallas community following the tragic shooting on July 7, 2016.
The program will includes a musical prelude and closing to set the tone for reflection and healing.
Dr. Jose Adames, president of El Centro College, will welcome the college community and guests, and he will introduce the Dallas Police Department Color Guard and presentation of flags. El Centro College Police Chief Joseph Hannigan will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Adames will introduce Pastor Julius Harris from Point of Life Church for the invocation, which will be followed by a moment of silence.
Dr. Adames also will acknowledge distinguished guests who will speak, including: Dr. Joe May, chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District; Monica Alonzo, Dallas mayor pro tem; David Pughes, executive assistant to the Dallas chief of police; and Curtis Lee, El Centro College student, who will introduce a video tribute titled “Why I’m El Centro Strong.” Dr. Adames will offer closing remarks.
