Mountain View College is proud to announce a new resource committed to building a diverse and inclusive learning community. On January 23, 2019, MVC's Bilingual Education Center officially opened its doors to students and the local community.

The Bilingual Education Center was created to address the shortage of bilingual educators in public elementary and secondary schools. Thanks to Title V Grant funds, the center focuses on student success and the goal of building career pathways.

The grand opening of the center was greeted with local fanfare and representatives from MVC and local four-year universities. Kenya Ware, Senior Manager of the Bilingual Education Center Title V Grant, says, "The Bilingual Education Center aims to remove any barriers that keep students from becoming teachers. We're looking to help them get certified as bilingual education professionals."

On hand at the event was Joe M. Posada, UNT-Dallas' Director of Student and Partner Engagement. As a representative of a university that enjoys a close-knit relationship with Mountain View College, Posada told the audience, "The talent we are looking for is right here at MVC." UNT-Dallas was one of several special guest universities in attendance.

MVC interim President Dr. Sharon Davis is proud to see what's transpiring inside the W Building hallway, "This program allows us to partner with some of our four-year universities in a unique way. We will be able to work with Texas Tech, UNT Dallas, UTA and help push our students to that next level, so they can come back to their communities and serve as educators."
