(DALLAS) — Dr. Allatia Harris, an administrator with
the Dallas County Community College District, has been appointed to
serve on the Associate of Arts in Teaching Committee for the Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board by Don Brown, commissioner of higher
education, effective this summer. Harris, formerly with Mountain View
College, is DCCCD's district director of new faculty development and
core curriculum evaluation. The new committee will focus on the state's
teacher shortage and explore ways to address the problem - specifically,
through the development of a new two-year degree program: the Associate
of Arts in Teaching degree.
