(DALLAS) — Students at all seven colleges in the Dallas County Community College District this year will be able to register for the summer and fall semesters simultaneously, a process that will save them time during the registration period, DCCCD announced.
The decision to adopt this new policy was made in July 2014 by DCCCD’s Vice Presidents Council and the colleges’ presidents; it is being implemented this year after undergoing several reviews and planning by the Registrars Council and advisors.
“Some things are just meant to be together — peanut butter and jelly, chips and salsa, summer and fall registration,” said Kathy Cook, marketing and communications director at DCCCD. “Combining summer and fall registration into a one-stop process makes it really convenient for students to sign up for the classes they need to have their schedules set through next December.”
Combined registration for the 2016 summer and fall semesters will open on April 19 for currently enrolled students. All other students will be able to register simultaneously for both semesters, beginning on April 25 after they have completed the application, orientation, assessment and advisement process. Students can complete the procedure online or in person at their colleges’ registration offices.
The dual registration procedure is for credit students only; continuing education students will not be eligible. In addition, financial aid procedures will not be affected by the simultaneous registration.
