Dallas County Community College students will notice a difference when they make photocopies or print information beginning with the summer I semester: prices are dropping, from the current rate of 10 cents per page to a cost of 5 cents per page.  They also will discover that new laser printers in college computer labs, as well as photocopy machines, will be connected through a common online payment station for easier payment and fast copies.

The new pay-per-print system replaces copy cards that students currently use.

Although students have purchased and used copy cards for photocopies, they also must pay for printing by the page in open computer labs at all colleges in the system.  Existing copy cards will not work with the new online system, so all students are advised to spend their copy card balances by June 5, 2005.  No balance transfers or refunds will be issued on current copy cards.

Students also should be aware that the new online pay-per-print system will accept only paper money and no coins.  The new online accounts will be college-specific; in other words, students who access pay-per-print services at multiple colleges in DCCC will create an account at each college.

Here’s how the new online pay-per-print system works:

  • DCCC’s new laser print and photocopy services, located in college libraries and open computer labs, will feature new laser printers and photocopy machines.
  • The cost of black-and-white laser prints and photocopies are 5 cents per copy.
  • Color copies will be available at select locations for 50 cents per page.
  • The new online payment system accepts only paper money.
  • Current copy cards will not work in the new system.
  • Online accounts - which students can open electronically at “value stations,” which are connected to PCs in laser printer/photocopier areas - are college-specific.  To access pay-per-print services at multiple colleges, students must establish an account at each college where they make laser prints or photocopies.
