Through the Industry 4.0 Academy’s relationships with military bases, transitioning military service members can access job opportunities through our pipeline to employers. This benefits participating employers by increasing the number of available, qualified and capable individuals ready for work in cutting-edge careers. Service members connect to training through the SkillBridge site, and then our Industry 4.0 Academy team connects them with industry partners for interview and hire. It benefits you as a service member by building upon the skills you have gained while in service, and then connecting you directly with employers hiring great people in automation, robotics and manufacturing.

Your regular salary and benefits are paid during participation in the Industry 4.0 Academy and SkillBridge program during your final 180 days of service.

The U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge program provides service members an invaluable opportunity to work as they learn in civilian careers. For industry partners, SkillBridge is an opportunity to access and leverage the world’s most highly trained and motivated workforce at no cost. Service members participating in SkillBridge receive their military compensation and benefits, and industry partners provide the training and work experience. SkillBridge can help service members bridge the gap between the end of service and the beginning of their civilian careers. Military unit commanders can greatly ease this transition to civilian life by supporting their reports’ interest in SkillBridge.

Separating service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after their unit commander provides written authorization and approval. Industry partners offer real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields while having the opportunity to evaluate the service member’s suitability for the work.
