Nickie Ray

Tutoring Specialist

Nickie Ray is an authentic and passionate educator who discovered her calling through a love of helping others learn. Her career began in customer service and training roles, where she found joy in guiding people and witnessing those “light bulb” moments.  

Ray now serves as a tutoring specialist at Dallas College, where she combines her expertise in math education, adult learning strategies and student support to help learners succeed. Her approach goes beyond formulas; she emphasizes accountability, self-advocacy and the unique needs of adult learners, creating an environment where confidence and understanding thrive. 

She draws inspiration not from one person, but from Dallas College as a whole, noting that every experience — whether as a student or an educator — has been meaningful and impactful. Most recently, her dedication was recognized with a nomination for the Excellence in Teaching Award. 

When she’s not supporting learners, she enjoys studying psychology and philosophy, volunteering at church and exploring topics related to the brain and trauma. She looks forward to inspiring others to embrace education as a lifelong journey and to see challenges as opportunities for transformation.
