The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX, a federal civil rights law that prohibits gender discrimination in federally funded educational programs. Title IX was signed into law on June 23, 1972.
This law states that, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
Title IX Safety Planning Seminar

This program will provide information on what safety planning is, how to make a personalized safety plan, and resources available should you or someone you know need safety planning while either in or when exiting a relationship.

In its 50 years, Title IX has strived to level the playing field by ending gender-based discrimination. It is one of the most powerful pieces of legislature to both empower and impact women. In doing so, it is credited with the increase in women in athletics, women in STEM programs and women earning degrees overall.
Title IX provides protections for students and employees. The scope of Title IX includes but is not limited to:

- intimate partner violence
- stalking
- sexual assault
- pregnancy
- gender identity discrimination
- athletics
- program equity
