Once you
apply for admission the next step is determining if you meet TSI requirements.
Texas Success Initiative (TSIA2)
TSIA2 is a state-legislated program designed to improve student success in college. Part of the program is an assessment to determine your basic skills in reading, mathematics and writing.
TSI Exemptions
You can
find out more about TSI exemptions and waivers in the Dallas College catalog. You must take the TSI (or be exempted from taking it) before you can register for courses that have a TSI prerequisite requirement. Please contact a
Success Coaching (Advising) Center for more information.
Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA)
You will be required to complete a pre-assessment activity before completing the TSIA2 assessment.
Taking Your Assessment
You may choose to take the TSI assessment in person at a campus testing center or online through remote proctoring.
Once you have completed your TSI assessment, your success coach (advisor) will use your TSI assessment scores to recommend course choices during registration.
Here are the steps you will need to follow:
Consider preparing for the TSIA2. There are free practice resources available for the TSIA2 assessment through the
College Board website, including a web-based study app, practice questions and sample essays.
For on-campus testing appointments and remote testing, students must fill out a TSI Testing Referral Request in
eConnect after completing the Pre-Assessment Activity. A
college coach can assist with this step. A testing specialist will then contact the student within one business day about scheduling testing.
Students may visit the Placement Testing Center with no appointment if they have a testing referral form from their success coach (advisor).
- Make an appointment for an in-person test at a campus Testing Center.
- Walk in for testing during
designated testing hours.
If You Have Previously Tested
Students who have tested elsewhere through an approved state institution and need their scores retrieved from the College Board Accuplacer database must submit an Individual Score Report request form and a picture ID to the office listed below:
