(DALLAS) — The Dallas County Community College District will present a free Military-Connected Resource Fair on Thursday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Eastfield College. The event is open to all DCCCD students, members of the general public, veterans, active duty personnel and reservists (plus their spouses and children).

The program will be held in rooms 101 and 102 of the G Building. Parking is free; lots 7 and 8 at Eastfield offer the easiest access to the fair’s location on campus. Eastfield College is located at 3737 Motley Drive in Mesquite.

“The Military-Connected Resource Fair is being presented by DCCCD as part of our current College Credit for Heroes grant, which is provided by the Texas Workforce Commission,” said Philip Hoy, senior manager of grant projects for the district’s College Credit for Heroes program. “This event offers participants a chance to connect with representatives from organizations and agencies that can assist them with education and employment opportunities, plus other services they may need.”

Bridget Moon, economic development specialist and veterans business development officer with the U.S. Small Business Administration, will present a workshop from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. She will focus on entrepreneurship for veterans.

Hoy expects to welcome approximately 25 service organizations, employers and government agencies, including: the U.S. Small Business Administration, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, Wounded Warrior Project, Cohen Clinic, Dallas County Veterans Services, Achieve, Hire Heroes, Attitudes and Attire, Military Veteran Peer Network, LeaderQuest, Veterans Land Board, Dallas Vet Center, Metrocare Services and Veterans Freedom Retreat.
