From Thursday, May 3, to Sunday, May 6, the National Rifle Association (NRA) will hold its annual convention at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. Due to the anticipated number of attendees, security associated with various dignitaries and other events, traffic will be impacted in and around the convention center.
Expect road closures Friday and Saturday associated with dignitaries visiting the NRA convention and consider alternate routes to the El Centro College campuses or the District Office. If you are visiting El Centro College’s downtown campuses, consider alternative routes from the north and the east. From the north take the Griffin Street or Pearl Street exits from Woodall Rodgers Freeway. From the east, take the Main Street exit from Interstate 345 (U.S. Highway 75).
If you are visiting the District Office, consider the following alternate routes: If traveling north from Interstate 35E take Woodall Rodgers to Interstate 45 or from U.S. 75 continue onto I-45 and take the Lamar St. exit from I-45. From the east, take Interstate 30 to I-45 to the Lamar Street exit. From the south, take I-35E to 8th Street to Corinth Street then to S. Lamar Street. From the west, take I-30 to I-35E south, take the 8th Street exit to Corinth Street then to S. Lamar Street.
