(DALLAS) — Not quite ready for college? No worries.

The Dallas County Community College District is hosting its free annual EduCareer Expo fair on Wednesday, June 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fair Park in the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center, located at 1403 Washington St., Gate 2.

This year’s high school graduates and students entering their final year of high school this fall (rising seniors) — including Dallas County Promise students — are invited to attend.

Dallas County Promise scholars can meet with success coaches and learn about careers as they prepare for enrollment. Students who are not Dallas County Promise scholars and may not have made college plans will get help, too, with the online DCCCD admissions and federal financial aid applications.

Promise students receive free tuition to any of DCCCD’s seven colleges, regardless of grade point average or income. They also are eligible for transfer scholarships to the University of North Texas at Dallas or Southern Methodist University.

“This is an opportunity for students to learn about all of these programs and so much more,” said Molly Bewley, DCCCD’s director of outreach. Advisors from all seven DCCCD colleges — including Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland — will be on hand to help students.

Final transcripts from some school districts may be available. The Garland Public Health Department will provide meningitis vaccinations onsite. Restrictions apply. State law requires that new college students or transfers take the shot or provide an exemption.
