Students representing Eastfield's Phi Theta Kappa chapter and Student Media team were recognized May 1 at the DCCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

Students from the PTK, Student Media, and Student Government at the seven colleges were invited to talk about their experiences and awards form the past year.

Eastfield PTK honors for 2017-18 include:

International Reach Award for membership increase
Five Star Chapter Recognition (regional and international)
College Project Award of Merit
Recognition for participating in College and Honors in Action Projects
Terry Foundation Scholarship with a full ride to the University of Texas at Dallas: Bryan Jennings, chair-treasurer
District II Hall of Honor: Angelica Avila , vice president of leadership
Five Star Competitive Edge Completion: all officers
Horizon Award for Advisor: Sharon Cook
All-USA Community College Academic Team: Angelica Avila, vice president of leadership, and Jennings
2017-2018 Student Leader of the Year winner: Durene Tezock
2017-2018 Student Leader of the Year nominee: Sarah Frichette, co-president
