Technical theater coordinator Lori Honeycutt will direct, her first time in the role for a professional theater production.
The production stars Georgiou, Eastfield alumnus Colby Calhoun, and Eastfield community members William Acker and Kelli Howard. Eastfield student Giavanna Ramos is the assistant stage manager.
Georgiou founded the Danielle Georgiou Dance Group in 2011. The group's work reflects Georgiou’s interest in social and psychological issues and in creating compelling images of a “new female.” The works break with the tradition of contemporary dance and tend to be more conceptual or narrative-driven.
Georgiou recently completed her doctorate at the University of Texas at Dallas in humanities with a focus in aesthetic studies. Her dissertation examined the history of dance theater in relationship to experimental, avant-garde, and physical theater practices.
The Festival runs July 13-Aug. 4. DGDG will perform:
8 p.m. July 26
5 p.m. July 29
8 p.m. Aug. 4
All performances take place at the Bath House Cultural Center.
