(DALLAS) – Sixteen students from the Dallas County Community College District will join more than 300 students from across Texas for a three-day, on-site visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center to learn more about careers in science and engineering. Members of the DCCCD group – who are participating in the Community College Aerospace Scholars program – will be in Houston from March 23-25.
As they learn about careers in science and engineering, the DCCCD students will have a chance to interact with other community college representatives; they will form teams and establish fictional companies that are interested in exploring Mars. Each company will be responsible for developing a prototype Rover; designing a line drawing of their Rover; and forming the company’s infrastructure, including budget, communications and presentations.
The Community College Aerospace Scholars program is part of Texas Aerospace Scholars. The program was created by the state of Texas, in partnership with JSC and Texas education institutions, to encourage community and junior college students to enter careers in science and engineering.
