Mountain View College's Sustainability Office is proud to announce that our college is set to become a Keep Dallas Beautiful Certified Campus. The relationship between this large nonprofit organization and MVC will focus on putting an end to littering and improving recycling on campus with a Youth Advisory Committee leading all efforts to raise awareness.

MVC's Sustainability Program leader, Lori DeLaCruz Lewis, is encouraging students to participate stating, "it's so important for students to be aware of and participate in sustainability initiatives because these issues affect so many parts of their lives. The next 12 to 15 years are going to see huge impacts on access to healthy food, clean air policies, availability of water, connections to renewable energy, access to alternative forms of transportation, urban tree preservation, urban flooding management, increasing health issues as we have hotter days in the summer."

Not only is there incredible potential for our environment to benefit from the awareness created through these efforts, but volunteers can earn valuable scholarship opportunities. In addition, volunteers can earn a service learning cord and Sustainability Scholarship cord upon graduation.
