Brookhaven College's dedication to serving students and community was recognized at the Metrocrest Services 7th annual Seasons of Service Luncheon Oct. 7. The event celebrates the power of volunteerism and honors institutions that support exemplary services and community partnerships.

"It is a testament to the community impact of Brookhaven College that we were honored by Metrocrest Services with a Seasons of Service Award," said Justin Lonon, interim college president. "This award recognizes Brookhaven's commitment to providing assistance to students in need."

Lonon accepted the award on behalf of the college, with Robert Young, DCCCD General Counsel (retired); Terri Edrich, executive administrator; and George Herring, vice president of business services also in attendance.

Over the past three years, 150 Brookhaven students have volunteered 775 hours in support of Metrocrest Services. Additionally, students and college employees have extended their volunteerism to help additional Dallas area nonprofits including Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and North Texas Food Bank. In 2016, Brookhaven partnered with North Lake College and Metrocrest Services to create the Connections program, providing eligible students with access to range of community services.

The Seasons of Service event was presented by Rotary Clubs of Addison, Addison Midday, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Coppell and Farmers Branch.
