El Centro College and the University of North Texas at Dallas Emerging Teacher Academy are hosting a signing ceremony for more than 20 students at Texans Can Academies on Friday, June 7. The ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. at Texans Can Academy, located at 325 W. 12th Street, in Dallas.

“As two-year and four-year institutions across Texas continue to struggle with low transfer rates and lack of transferability of community college credits, this bold new Emerging Teacher Academy between UNT Dallas and El Centro College strives to eliminate those issues,” said Dr. Greg Morris, Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Plus, we are creating a new pathway pipeline for one of the most important careers in our country—the path to become a teacher.”

Dr. James Ponce, Texans Can Academies Chief of Schools, said “Texans Can Academies is excited about the partnership with the UNT Dallas and El Centro College Emerging Teacher Academy. Additionally, Texans Can Academies' students are looking forward to following their dream of becoming a teacher under the tutelage of El Centro College and UNT Dallas professors.”
