(DALLAS) – It’s roundup time, DCCCD style, for teachers! The Dallas County Community College District has set its sites on finding more than a few good instructors. The district is looking for a large pool of qualified, part-time faculty members.
Representatives from DCCCD are hosting the system’s annual adjunct faculty recruitment fair to find those potential part-time instructors who can share their expertise and their experience with students who want to learn. The event will be held on Saturday, April 22, at the Bill Priest Campus of El Centro College, located at 1402 Corinth St. in downtown Dallas. The fair is free and open to the general public; it starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. Participants should bring a minimum of eight to 10 copies of their resumes, plus their college transcripts, and they will be asked to fill out an adjunct faculty recruitment form.
Recuiters are seeking adjunct faculty who are interested in teaching at one of DCCCD’s seven colleges: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake or Richland. Each of the district’s institutions is individually accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and DCCCD serves more than 63,000 credit students each semester. The Dallas TeleCollege, based at DCCCD’s LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications, also needs adjunct faculty who can teach distance learning courses.
People interested in teaching college credit courses part time for DCCCD must have a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in that teaching field – plus one year of demonstrable experience – or an associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical area, such as automotive technology or electronics. Others who would like to teach and/or develop noncredit or continuing education courses must have demonstrable teaching skills and competencies for the course that will be taught or developed.
