The H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery Presents "Studio Active:  A Juried Student Exhibition”

(October 30, 2019) Dallas, TX – The H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College proudly presents “Studio Active: A Juried Student Exhibition” which is free and open to the public.

Exhibition Dates: November 6 – December 13
Awards Reception: November 6, 3 – 5 p.m. Awards announced at 3:30 p.m.

“Studio Active: A Juried Student Exhibition” is an annual show held in the fall semester at El Centro. The exhibition is an opportunity for students to exhibit artwork, poetry, music, dramas, and other media in a professional gallery. Artist and musician Bailey K. Chapman will serve as the juror. Chapman is an established drummer in local bands Pearl Earl and Heavy Pulp, and in Los Angeles for Thelma and the Sleaze. Chapman earned a BFA in Painting from the University of North Texas and an MFA in Painting from Texas Woman’s University. Chapman will select students from the application pool to participate in the exhibition. First place will be awarded $700 and three honorable mentions will each be awarded $100, respectively. All monetary prizes are available the generous donation from Barnes & Thornburg Law Firm in Dallas.

An awards reception will be held November 6, from 3 – 5 p.m., with awards being announced at 3:30 p.m. in the gallery. Chapman will give short remarks on her decision for the award winners and the exhibition.

Gallery hours are open to the public Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; and Friday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The gallery is open on the weekends by appointment only.
