U.S. Ambassador to Hungary stops by to visit with El Centro College students, local business leaders during recent Dallas visit

Dr. László Szabó, Hungarian Ambassador to the United States, met with El Centro students, faculty, administrators, and a select group of local business leaders this past Wednesday for a multimedia presentation, Q&A session, and networking reception.

Helping celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week,  Dr. Szabó’s talk on Hungary was part of Success!, a new pop-up lecture series that features talks between leading industry experts and students studying marketing and entrepreneurship. Forbes recently described the Hungarian capital city of Budapest as “the ‘go to’ city for entrepreneurs.”

The visit was arranged in partnership with the Global Chamber, the Hungarian American Institute, the Dallas County Community College District’s Office of Global Economic Development and El Centro College.

Dr. Szabó was appointed Ambassador of Hungary to the United States in 2017. Ambassador Szabó previously served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2014 to 2017. Prior to public service, Ambassador Szabo worked for the pharmaceutical company Teva Hungary, Ltd. In Budapest, Dr. Szabo also worked for the U.S. pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly and Company for 16 years. In 1990, Ambassador Szabo graduated from Debrecent Medical University, Hungary with a doctorate in medicine.

The Office of Global Economic Development at the Dallas County Community College District bridges workforce and educational partnerships between Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and international business communities. The office works closely with local and international players to facilitate trade, foreign direct investment and workforce development.

The El Centro College marketing and entrepreneurship programs provide flexible, stackable credentials and critical skills specifically designed to help students succeed in a wide variety of areas and specializations within numerous industries including technology, food and hospitality, fashion, and general business.
