"I'm happy for them," Fletcher told the student newspaper, The Et Cetera. "At the end of the day, it's all for them."

Fletcher is in his 14th season as Eastfield head basketball coach and athletic director. The Harvesters have been nationally ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 for the past 12 seasons. Coach Fletcher is second in all-time wins for basketball at Eastfield, which started in 1971.

His teams reached the national tournament three times and placed second in 2013.

More than 100 of Fletcher's players have moved on to play at the four-year university level, and 104 earned college degrees.

"It is of note that many of these players would not have otherwise attended college had it not been for coach Fletcher's mentorship and athletics," STEM Dean Jess Kelly said in an email. "The accolades that we could share could go on and on, and this is but a small representation of the mentorship and leadership qualities that coach Fletcher provides to our students every day."
