T-shirts hanging on a clothesline

Clothesline Project

Tuesday, Oct. 15 – Thursday, Oct. 17

10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Lower Courtyard | Rain Site: The Hive

Visit the Clothesline Project, a display designed to provide evidence that interpersonal violence exists in our community and serve as a visual reminder of statistics that we often ignore.

Share your voice and story of survival, resilience and hope. Design a T-shirt to reflect your personal experience.

The Clothesline Project originated on the East Coast in 1990 and is a nationwide initiative to educate students and community members that interpersonal violence is a problem everywhere, help is available and there is hope and a path to healing.

Nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.

NOTE: Because the goal of the Clothesline Project is to break the silence of violence, shirts are not censored and some may include swear words, explicit violent or sexual descriptions or other statements that reflect the emotions and reality the individual experienced.
