(DALLAS) – Dr. Wright Lassiter, chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District, will be honored by BKM Total Office of Texas – a Dallas-based office furnishings company – with a scholarship donation in his name during a special higher education seminar on Thursday, Aug. 17. BKM officials will announce that the company has established the Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr. BKM Scholarship, which will be administered by the DCCCD Foundation; a student recipient will be announced that day as well.

“I am honored to accept this scholarship gift on behalf of DCCCD and all of our students,” said Lassiter. “Our partnerships with area businesses like BKM provide students with critical resources they need to pursue a career and to lead productive lives.”

Lassiter will speak to participants of the “Higher Ed Higher Tech ’06” conference at 8:30 a.m. about “The Changing Face of Higher Education.” The seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at BKM’s corporate offices, 9755 Clifford Drive, Suite 100, in Dallas. BKM’s one-day program targets facilities managers, university deans, architects, designers, information technology and audio/visual professionals, and human resources management.

“We are pleased to honor Dr. Lassiter with this scholarship gift, which enables us to help DCCCD students and also to recognize the chancellor’s integrity and leadership in higher education,” said Carol Roehrig, BKM’s president. Carlene Wilson, vice president of sales for BKM, will introduce the chancellor.
