(DALLAS) — It’s often said, “Home is where the heart is.” Well, add in fun, excitement and a pinch of anticipation, and you have the key ingredients for Dallas County Community College District’s second annual homecoming celebration.
“We’re back and better than ever,” said Kapreta Johnson, coordinator of alumni and donor relations for the DCCCD Foundation. “This will be a fantastic opportunity to reunite, share fellowship with old friends and reflect on past memories, all while looking ahead to the dynamic changes on the horizon for DCCCD.”
This October, the seven colleges of DCCCD will welcome thousands of students, both past and present, to revel in all things fall fun. From sporting events and exhibitions to pajama parties and more, this promises to be an extravaganza to remember.
“What an exciting time to welcome our alumni back for DCCCD’s second districtwide homecoming event. We’re hoping to capitalize on this moment of unity to promote lifelong involvement from all of our alumni,” said Dr. Joe May, DCCCD’s chancellor.
The celebration begins on Friday, Oct. 11, from 7-11 p.m. with a Distinguished Alumni and Pillar of the Community award ceremony at Edison’s, located at 1724 Cockrell Ave. in Dallas. There will be a VIP reception from 6:30-7 p.m.
A recipient from each of the four award categories, Distinguished General Alumni, Distinguished Emerging Alumni, Distinguished Employee Alumni and Pillar of the Community, will be recognized during the ceremony.
Tickets for the awards ceremony are required; please RSVP on the foundation website.
Proceeds will support alumni activities including career redevelopment, professional advancement and alumni care.
“DCCCD alumni are everywhere in our community,” said Dr. Pyeper Wilkins, executive director of the DCCCD Foundation. “They are employed in every industry, involved in all kinds of community service and serve as role models for thousands of students enrolled in DCCCD colleges today.”
DCCCD comprises seven individually accredited colleges: Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland.
