(LANCASTER) — The harmony between the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and Cedar Valley College continues — this time with a special live performance by DSO at the school.

A “DSO On the Go” concert takes place Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Valley’s Performance Hall, 3030 N. Dallas Ave. in Lancaster. DSO’s new assistant conductor Katharina Wincor will lead renditions of classical selections by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Maurice Ravel, Johann Strauss and Edvard Grieg, among others.

The event is open to the public. General admission tickets are $19. For students, the discounted cost is $5 by using the STUDENTGO promo code. Students with a DSO College Card can attend for free.

Dr. Kathryn D. Brown, music program coordinator for Cedar Valley, said the collaboration between DSO and Cedar Valley has a long and successful history that dates back about 15 years.

“The southern Dallas communities do not have opportunities like this — a chance to see the premier symphony orchestra in the area, in their neighborhood,” Brown said.

“Having the DSO perform on campus takes us beyond the early teaching to experience high-level performing in a new way for our campus and communities. This can be a transformational event,” Brown said. “Orchestral music is for everyone.”

Earlier this year, DSO formed a partnership with elementary-age students in southern Dallas as part of its Young Musicians Conservatory — an outreach program that brought free instruments and music lessons to youngsters attending DSO’s Saturday workshops at Cedar Valley.
