The actualization of accomplishment at the end of the academic year is the perfect opportunity to recognize the best of the best. For the last 19 years, Mountain View College has proudly recognized three students as Outstanding Student of the Year award winners. Hosted by MVC Student Life, students are nominated by faculty members and honored at a banquet.
Faculty members are asked to nominate one student based on academic performance, leadership abilities, campus involvement and community outreach. The nominee must have a GPA of 3.5 and have completed at least 21 credit hours at MVC.
This year, eight students were nominated, but in the end, a special selection committee narrowed the field down to three winners. The nineteenth annual Outstanding Student of the Year award winners are:
1st place: Brandon Cruz
2nd place: Liliana Gonzalez
3rd place: Oscar Gonzalez
The three honorees all received scholarship prizes.

"Receiving the Outstanding Student Award this year is heart-touching. With this being the first time the award has ever been given to a Dual-Credit student, it shows Mountain View College's commitment to its students no matter their age or background. It gives me hope that my potential is not limited by any external factor, but only by my ambition."

"It was shocking because I didn't know or think this was going to happen. I'm still not believing it right now that I've been named an Outstanding Student of the Year. Over the past year, with PTK and all the responsibilities that come with overseeing such an important group of honor students, it just means so much to me. I'm thrilled to have made so many people proud."

"This award represents a responsibility to other students, to be a role model for others to strive for success, wisdom and honor. Time is precious and having everyone invest their time, in me, is something I cannot repay. Simply sitting down and having these conservations helps me gain knowledge and experience; therefore, it helps me grow."
