Mountain View College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Omega Omega, was honored with a slate of individual, group, and advisor awards at the Texas Regional Convention in Abilene, Texas, on March 5-7.
In addition to student prizes, MVC advisors Cathy Edwards, Farzin Farzad, Darius Frasure and Luke Story were honored as a Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team and Edwards also received a Paragon Award for New Advisors. MVC President Dr. Beatriz Joseph was honored with the Paragon Award and Hall of Honor for New Presidents.
Several MVC students were awarded scholarships as well. Chapter President Jacaranda Peralta received the Guistwhite Scholarship, worth $5,000, and both Peralta and Brenda Analy Atz Lorenzo, Vice President of Service, were named semifinalists for the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, which could be worth up to $40,000 per year. Peralta was also named to the Texas All-State Academic Team.
