(DALLAS) — Hundreds of Dallas County Community College District students are crossing the stage during commencement ceremonies that began on Saturday, May 8, and that conclude on Saturday, May 16. Graduates from DCCCD's seven individually accredited colleges — Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland — will hear a variety of keynote speakers and receive greetings delivered by members of the district's board of trustees. The schedule is listed below by date order.

Saturday, May 8, 2010

  • North Lake College — held at 10 a.m., Loos Field House, 3815 Spring Valley Road, Addison; the keynote speaker was Dr. Gabriel Bach, professor of government and this year’s North Lake College President’s Scholar.

Thursday, May 13, 2010

  • Brookhaven College — 7 p.m., Loos Field House, 3815 Spring Valley Road, Addison; the keynote speaker is BHC Piper Professor nominee Sheri Van Court, professor of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

  • Cedar Valley College — 7 p.m., Inspiring Body of Christ Church, 7710 S. Westmoreland Road, Dallas; the keynote speaker is Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr., DCCCD chancellor.

  • Eastfield College — 7:30 p.m., Mesquite Convention Center and Exhibit Hall, 1750 Rodeo Drive, Mesquite; keynote speaker and EFC alumna Carrie Sacky, CVS pharmacist, celebrates with graduates Eastfield’s 39th annual commencement exercise.

  • Mountain View College — 7 p.m., Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, 9191 S. Polk St., Dallas; the keynote speaker is Craig Watkins, Dallas County district attorney.

  • Richland College — 7:30 p.m., Garland Special Events Center; the keynote speaker is one of 10 statewide 2010 Piper Professors, Randy Conine, faculty member in English and peace studies.

Sunday, May 16, 2010

  • El Centro College — 3 p.m., Davis Field House in the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex, 9191 S. Polk St., Dallas; the keynote speaker is El Centro’s professor of the year, Hal Spiegel, information technology faculty member.
