We upgraded our website hardware and software to provide you with better service. Here are a few small changes we’ve made.

First, we divided the blue navigation bars that used to be located directly above the large photo on the home page. In the new navigation,

  • the links to our most popular pages are provided in the bar above the photo for easier access
  • the bar beneath the photo provides navigation by audience type
  • the bar beneath the photo also contains drop-down links to the pages within the About DCCCD, Future Students, Current Students, Continuing Education, Business and Community, Employees and Spanish sites

Second, we’ve improved the search functionality. We replaced the search link with an easier-to-locate search box. We’ve also simplified the search process by eliminating predefined categories in basic search. You can then filter your results using filter tabs that are located above the search results.

Soon, we plan to rename “FAQs: Get Answers” — it will be called “Get Help/Online Support.” Although the name of the link will be changing, this will still be the place where you can find answers to more than 100 questions about registration, financial aid, student services and other topics.

Finally, we’re using a new Microsoft application called Silverlight to display the districtwide calendar. Silverlight is a free, downloadable plugin like Flash that allows us to make our calendar more flexible and display more information. All computers on DCCCD’s campuses now have Silverlight installed, so if you’re using a DCCCD computer, the calendar will work automatically. However, if you view the DCCCD website calendar from home for the first time, you  may be prompted to install the Silverlight plugin.

There will be more changes and improvements coming. We’ll keep you posted. But in the meantime, if you have suggestions, please share them with us by e-mailing the Internet Publishing Team at InternetPublishing@dcccd.edu.
