When you think of summer, do you see your favorite flip-flops or hear the sound of music from an ice cream truck? Why not make your education part of your summer vision? If you want to get ahead by taking summer credit classes, register now!

Are you new to college? If so, plan to start the registration process early. You must complete the application, orientation, assessment and advising process before you can register for classes. (Learn more about the admissions process.)

Home for the Summer?

If you’ll be home from college for the summer, take a class at DCCCD and save big bucks! Why pay university tuition rates when you can get the same credit course at your neighborhood community college (Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake, Richland or our online campus) for just $InDistrict3HrTuition$ a course?

If you already have earned credits from another college or university, here’s how to sign up to take a DCCCD summer course:

  1. Apply for admission.
  2. Have your college or university mail an official transcript to the DCCCD college you want to attend.
  3. Find the courses you want to take.
  4. Register. (See “How to Register” below.)

Summer II Semester Starts Tuesday, July 13

DCCCD’s Summer I session began June 7, but there’s still time to enroll in Summer II, which starts Tuesday, July 13.

Note that we also offer Flex Term classes that don’t follow the regular semester schedules, and our online campus offers open enrollment classes that start every few weeks.

When to Register

  • Regular registration (open to all students) began Monday, April 26. Summer II registration ends Monday, July 12.

How to Register

  • Register online (if you are eligible — eConnect login required) or
  • Register on campus
Note that dates and times for on-campus registration may vary by college; visit your college’s Web site for the most current information.

If you are new to DCCCD, we strongly recommend that you register in person at the college you plan to attend so you can get information about course prerequisites, the degrees we offer, the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), tuition and other important topics.

Important Notes About Registration

  • Our offices will be closed Monday, July 5 (in observation of Independence Day), but online registration will still be available for eligible students.
  • Students with an eConnect login can plan their schedules on eConnect with Plan My Schedule, and all students can browse credit classes or search for credit classes using eConnect.
  • Summer I classes began Monday, June 7, and Summer II classes start Tuesday, July 13. (See the 2009-2010 academic calendar for other important Summer term dates.)
  • Stop Before You Drop: Under Texas law, students who enroll in a Texas public institution of higher education (including DCCCD) for the first time in fall 2007 or later may not drop more than six courses during their entire undergraduate career. See our catalog for more information.
