With help from Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, the DCCCD Foundation/Development Office has received $300,000 in congressionally directed funds to serve DCCCD students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). As part of the STEM Initiative for 2010, the DCCCD Foundation offers 100 student support awards, open to all new and returning students meeting the eligibility criteria in fall 2010.

Eligible students may apply for a $1,000 student support award to be awarded in two installments of $500 (for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011). Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better and enroll in a minimum of six credit hours each semester. A districtwide committee will select the recipients.

To apply for the DCCCD STEM Initiative Student Support Award, students must provide two letters of recommendation from DCCCD faculty members or high school teachers and complete the STEM Initiative Student Support Award Application (PDF - 493KB). All materials must be received by the DCCCD Development Office/Foundation by Aug. 1, 2010, to be considered.
