Three DCCCD volunteers

For immediate release — March 7, 2011

(DALLAS) — One day. Two thousand pairs of hands. Two thousand willing hearts. Several hundred grateful Dallas-area agencies.

That scenario was the framework for the Dallas County Community College District’s 2011 Day of Service — a significant way chosen this year to observe the district’s 45th anniversary, which brought community even closer to home for the district’s employees.

“I am so pleased and so proud of our district and the contributions we make every day to the communities we call home,” said Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr., DCCCD’s chancellor. “Through our 2011 Day of Service, we had an opportunity to expand the idea of community to include volunteerism and charity — and to grow ourselves, as individuals, as we helped others.”
