We are aware of your concerns regarding financial aid and are working diligently to address them. Most important, we are protecting eligible students’ registrations and classes.

DCCCD is experiencing growing pains caused by a number of changes that have occurred in our financial aid function, including:

  • more applications
  • reorganization of FA and new Call Center to improve service to you
  • new online verification process (processing time has dropped from eight weeks last year to 10 days or fewer this year)
  • new Satisfactory Academic Progress regulations

Change is always difficult at best.

We are marshalling all of our resources to address the challenges that we are experiencing by:

  • protecting eligible financial aid students’ registration
  • adding staff
  • extending our hours
  • installing new voice circuits and upgrading a router in the Call Center
  • making proactive, outbound calls, including extended hours in the evening and on weekends, to students who have not completed all of their steps
  • improving communications

We are making progress, and we will continue working to make improvements.
