Under a new state law, all college students must choose a program of study. The program of study you select is a guide to the classes you will take to earn a specific certificate or degree.

You don’t have to select a program of study as soon as you start college. The law requires you to choose a program of study by the time you complete 45 credit hours (12-15 courses). If you don’t select a program of study by that time, you will not be eligible for an official transcript.

Selecting a program of study is an important step in your college experience. All DCCCD colleges have academic advisors who can help you select the program of study that is right for you.

If you are applying for financial aid or Veterans Affairs benefits, you are required to select a program of study. If you receive financial aid or Veterans Affairs benefits, you have already made this selection.
