(DALLAS) — The board of trustees for the Dallas County Community College District is looking for a new chancellor. The wheels have been set in motion for a formal, national search, and members of the general public and the business community are invited to share their ideas about the qualities and qualifications for DCCCD’s next CEO during a special public hearing on Tuesday, May 7, at 6 p.m.

The trustees, who comprise the executive search committee, will hold their regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m. that day, followed by the public hearing at 6 p.m. The meeting and public hearing will be held in the board room at DCCCD’s administrative office building, 1601 S. Lamar St. in Dallas.

The search for DCCCD’s next chancellor was prompted by the pending retirement of Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr., the district’s current CEO. Members of the executive search committee are in the process of selecting a firm to assist them with the national search, and feedback from the May 7 public hearing will be used to help create specific criteria related to the characteristics and qualifications that DCCCD’s next CEO should possess.

“We invite community members to share their thoughts with us as this critical process begins,” said Bob Ferguson, DCCCD trustee and chair of the executive search committee. “Please attend the public hearing to share your ideas. Community members who cannot attend the meeting can also call us or send an email.”

A dedicated telephone line is available at (214) 378-1603, where callers can leave a voice mail message with their ideas. Email messages can be sent to the executive search committee at DCCCDTrustees@dcccd.edu.
