(DALLAS) — Thirteen of the 18 art students from the colleges of DCCCD whose paintings, photographs, sculptures and other pieces currently comprise the
Founders’ Foyer Rotating Art Exhibit were recognized during a special reception on May 7 at DCCCD’s headquarters.
The
Founders’ Foyer and its rotating art exhibit are made possible by a generous gift from
Margaret McDermott, founding DCCCD Board of Trustees vice chair and longtime supporter of the Foundation.

“The current exhibit features an interesting and eclectic collection of art pieces created by some of our outstanding visual arts students from all seven colleges,” says Lyn McBee, DCCCD Foundation board officer who chairs the art committee that selected the exhibit’s 19 pieces out of 124 entries. “We are pleased to showcase this current collection with the endeavor to elevate the artistic vision that Margaret McDermott wished to bring through her support of the Founders’ Foyer.”
DCCCD Chancellor Wright L. Lassiter Jr. welcomed guests at the reception and presented a cash award to each art student in attendance.

Chancellor Lassiter also purchased Mattioli’s art piece — a watercolor painting titled “Spanish Steps” — currently on display in the exhibit.
The art faculty members and administrators in attendance included Christina Medina, Mountain View art instructor; Melodee Ramirez, North Lake art instructor and daughter of honored art student Richard Martin; and Eddie Rawlinson, arts and sciences interim executive dean at El Centro and Founders’ Foyer exhibit curator.
The current exhibit runs now through Sept. 27.
