News brief

(DALLAS) — North Lake and El Centro colleges, two of seven individually accredited colleges in the Dallas County Community College District’s system, have begun national searches for new presidents. Dr. Paul McCarthy, president of El Centro College, plans to retire later this year; Christa Slejko, interim president of North Lake College, has filled that position for two years, following the retirement of Dr. Herlinda Glasscock.

Ads have been posted on DCCCD’s website and have been placed in a number of higher education outlets to attract candidates from across the country. For details and application information, visit www.dcccd.edu/nlcps (North Lake) or www.dcccd.edu/eccps (El Centro). Both sites contain the job description, duties, information about the college and other items for interested candidates. Both positions report to DCCCD’s chancellor.

The deadline to submit an application and accompanying required materials is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.

A search committee for each position will interview candidates and make recommendations to the chancellor’s office; the process will take at least several months.

For more information, contact Kate Kelley, DCCCD associate vice chancellor for human resources, internal services and operations, by phone at (972) 860-4083 or by email at kkelley@dcccd.edu.
