(DALLAS) — Six of the seven colleges in the Dallas County Community College District will hold an adjunct faculty job fair on Saturday, March 29, to find qualified people who are interested in teaching part time. Those colleges — Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland — will host the job fairs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Note: The El Centro College job fair will be held at the Bill J. Priest campus, located at 1402 Corinth St. near downtown Dallas. Eastfield College will not hold an adjunct faculty fair that day.

Candidates should bring copies of their resumes and transcripts to the college where they would like to interview. Subjects and adjunct teaching needs vary from college to college.

To teach credit classes for the colleges of DCCCD, adjunct instructors must hold a master’s degree that includes 18 hours in that specific teaching discipline. Transcripts from foreign institutions must be evaluated based on U.S. standards before they are submitted.

Individuals interested in teaching developmental education courses must have a bachelor’s degree in the subject area or a bachelor’s degree and “significant course work” in the subject at the undergraduate level. Additionally, they must have high school or college teaching experience in the subject matter; graduate-level courses in pedagogy related to the teaching field may be substituted for teaching experience. Additional certifications may be required to teach in certain specialized fields.

Individuals who want more information and who are interested in visiting one of the adjunct teaching job fairs should call the college where they plan to apply.
