(LANCASTER) — Cedar Valley College will host the Dallas County Community College District’s 28th annual Dia de la Familia and Taste of Nutrition Fair on Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3030 N. Dallas Ave. in Lancaster. The event is free and open to the public; families are invited.

A wide range of activities will be offered for parents and children, including musical entertainment and events for youngsters. Participants also will have an opportunity to fish (catch and release) in Cedar Valley Lake on campus as part of a family fishing tournament.

As part of the event, the Taste of Nutrition Fair will focus on providing information and food tastings that highlight the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.

In addition, the American Heart Association will present a live cooking demonstration in the Student Center (lower level) from 11 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is required for this program; go to www.cedarvalleycollege.edu/documents/Heart.aspx to sign up.

Dia de la Familia regularly attracts 1,000 or more community members for a day of fun and educational activities. Various booths and vendors on site will provide information about a variety of subjects, including the benefits of higher education, which students can pursue at Cedar Valley and the other six colleges in DCCCD’s system.
