(DALLAS) — The Dallas County Community College District will celebrate Constitution Day in September with programs, giveaways and entertainment on its college campuses. Lectures and panel discussions about the U.S. Constitution are some of the activities planned.
 
A list of Constitution Day activities, noted by date and college, is provided below:
 
Tuesday, Sept. 16
 
  • Cedar Valley College, 3030 N. Dallas Ave., Lancaster — 12:30 to 2 p.m. — A variety of activities, hosted by the Cedar Valley College office of student life, will be held in the courtyard for students and employees as they observe Constitution Day.
 
Wednesday, Sept. 17
 
  • Brookhaven College, 3939 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch/Dallas — Noon — Brookhaven College’s Constitution Day event will feature a program about “Presidential Leadership,” presented by the college’s Institute for Political Studies. The event, which will be held in room K234 of the K Building, is open only to Brookhaven students.
  • El Centro College, 801 Main St., Dallas — 12:30 p.m. — Members of the El Centro College Spoken Word Club, as well as a professional spoken word artist, Erica GDLR, will perform, and the college will distribute copies of the U.S. Constitution in both English and Spanish. Refreshments will be served. Activities will be held in the Performance Hall, Building C.
  • Eastfield College, 3737 Motley Drive, Mesquite — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Government faculty members will discuss several topics in rooms 100/101 of the Science Building: Rhonda Miller, “Voting and the U.S. Constitution”; Glynn Newman, “The Texas Constitution”; and Stacey Jurhree, “Presidential Attacks on the Constitution.” The program is free.
  • Mountain View College, 4849 W. Illinois Ave., Dallas — 12:30 to 1:50 p.m. — Faculty members Ryan Pettengill and Jessica Waldrop will lead a discussion titled “Civil Rights, Civil Liberties and the Role of the Internet” in rooms S1029/1030 to explore the evolving impact of the Internet on the U.S. Constitution.
  • North Lake College, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving — 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. — North Lake will combine Constitution Day and Welcome Back activities in the Student Life Center. Voter registration will be held, and refreshments will be served.
  • Richland College, 12899 Abrams Road, Dallas — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
