The Dallas County Community College District is seeking nominations for the 2004 DCCCD Distinguished Alumni Awards program, which recognizes former students who have made significant contributions to the community or their professions.

A nominee is considered eligible if that person formerly attended one of seven DCCCD colleges — as well as the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development and the LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications — and if that person deemed DCCCD an important part of his or her education.

Employees, students and friends of DCCCD can nominate an individual for this honor by submitting the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award nomination form to the president's office of the DCCCD institution at which the nominee was most involved; the deadline to submit the nomination is no later than 5 p.m. on Mon., Dec. 1, 2003.

Those persons selected for the award will demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Have made significant contributions to their profession and have been recognized by their colleagues for those contributions; or
  • Have made significant contributions to their local state, or national community; or
  • Have quietly contributed to the community through other efforts; and
  • Have exhibited integrity and strength of character that inspires faculty, staff and students of DCCCD.

Each DCCCD institution will establish the criteria and process for screening applicants and will select one award recipient from its pool of candidates. The winners will be recognized during a special reception next spring (2004).

For more information, please call the president's office at the campus where your nominee attended, or contact the DCCCD Foundation at 214.860.2053.
