Who: Dallas County Community Colleges administrative offices at 701 Elm St. and District Service Center in Mesquite at 4343 N. Highway 67

What: Move to a new education complex, including one location for the system’s offices in south Dallas

When: December 2006 or January 2007 (two-year process)

Where: 1300 Corinth St., adjacent to current Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development

Why: To expand educational facilities for both El Centro and Eastfield Colleges and to combine business and administrative functions for the Dallas County Community Colleges system


Specifics

701 Elm St.: Administration offices will move to 1300 Corinth St. (new system location).

District Service Center: Offices will move to 1300 Corinth St. (new system location).

El Centro College: Current system administration building at 701 Elm St. will become part of El Centro College for office space and other operational needs; ECC will expand nursing and allied health programs to new space in the recently purchased Paramount Building, located in the West End/Downtown Central Business District of Dallas. 

Eastfield College: Current District Service Center facilities will become part of Eastfield College and its workforce development education and training programs.

Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development: Workforce development planning and operations will be strengthened. The Small Business Development Center and the Business Incubator will remain at the Priest Institute.

Bill Priest Educational Complex: New system administration and workforce development facilities for Dallas County Community Colleges.
