(DALLAS) — Two new members of the Dallas County Community College District’s board of trustees were sworn in on Wednesday, June 29, at DCCCD’s headquarters in downtown Dallas. Dorothy Zimmermann and Monica Lira Bravo, who won the June 18 runoff for Districts 3 and 4, respectively, took their oaths during separate ceremonies as family members watched.

Zimmermann was sworn in by Judge Bill Metzger, justice of the peace for Dallas County Precinct 2, Place 2; Metzger is the outgoing DCCCD trustee for District 4. Lira Bravo was sworn in by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.

​​Trustee Monica Lira Bravo was sworn in by Judge Clay Jenkins.

​Philip Ritter, who was elected in May to fill the District 2 seat, was sworn in on June 7 by Charletta Compton, who serves as board chair.
 
Compton said, “I welcome Trustees Zimmermann and Lira Bravo to the board, and I look forward to working with them.”
 
Dr. Joe May, DCCCD’s chancellor, other administrators and college presidents witnessed both ceremonies, which occurred during an afternoon schedule that included a work session and two special meetings.
